Science World British Columbia is a charitable organization that engages British Columbians in science and inspires future science and technology leadership throughout our province.

Well known for fun and flair, Science World British Columbia makes science learning approachable and captivating through interactive exhibits and hands-on programming. With many exciting developments underway involving diverse collaborations, new digital initiatives, and expanded outreach, Science World is poised to significantly scale our science literacy and engagement efforts throughout British Columbia. We are looking for a Creative Director who can leverage their experience in marketing communications, developing great creative talent, visual storytelling and innovation to build and grow our much-loved brand at this exciting time.

What’s the job?

The Creative Director will lead Science World’s creative strategy, and is responsible for conceptualization and implementation of visual solutions that meet our organization’s needs, from concept to completion. The role will also take ownership of and consistently represent our visual brand.

What skills and capabilities do you bring?

  • You are an empathetic leader with experience in coaching, developing and managing a creative team.
  • You have proven experience and the ability to make sophisticated strategies accessible and intelligible to a wide audience, with a keen sense for branding and aesthetic.
  • With demonstrated creative excellence and proven digital capabilities, you are experienced in creating concepts for others to work on, and leading highly creative work.
  • You have outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • You have a track record of working in cross-functional teams, and a love for working collaboratively.

 What’s the typical background we are looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design or related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in an in-house or agency setting
  • Fully fluent in both web and print media
  • A solid understanding of marketing and advertising principals
  • Other nice to haves:
    • Front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JS)
    • Experience in brand development
    • Photography skills
