Future Science Leaders is a Science World teen program to inspire and challenge the top high school students to excel in science and technology. Working as a part of the Future Science Leaders (FSL) program in Community Engagement, you will play both lead and supporting roles in development, coordination, implementation, documentation and evaluation of the program. Your time will be approximately broken down in the following ways – administration (including emails and orders), in actual sessions and preparation. Administration includes managing relationships with parents, volunteers, external speakers, alumni, and future students.
In the role of the FSL Coordinator-Abbotsford, you will work closely with the Program Director to ensure each session of FSL runs smoothly. As part of this, you will be responsible for documenting attendance, homework, and online writing. You will organize photos and information for funders and possible media stories. You will also be responsible for equipment and consumables management, evaluation, constant improvement and regular reporting.
This position requires an enthusiastic, efficient, independent and creative individual with a passion for organization and mentoring enthusiastic high school students (15-16 year olds). Flexibility and confidence are required to work with a highly collaborative and dynamic development and facilitation team. This will require approximately 12 hours per week, with mandatory attendance at the Wednesday (3:00 to 6:00pm) sessions in Abbotsford.
There is also an opportunity to do some teaching and leading of sessions for the right candidate. This would provide another 4 hours each week you are leading the sessions.
